Jenny is a Principal Scientist and owner of Blair Wildlife Consulting, LLC and registered as a Certified Wildlife Biologist® by The Wildlife Society. She has over two decades of diverse experience as an environmental professional and project manager in the areas of environmental analysis, research, conservation planning, compliance, and permitting for public and private sector projects.

She graduated from Texas State University – San Marcos in 2007 with a B.S. in Wildlife Biology and chemistry minor, along with a background in veterinary medicine.  She began working as a veterinary technician while still in high school. While obtaining her degree, she continued to work as a veterinary technician, completed the LVT program, as well as worked as a field and laboratory technician for Texas State University’s Biology Department.  Jenny has completed and contributed to numerous research studies to include analysis of the feeding habits of the common musk turtle (Sternotherus odoratus), head pattern analysis of the Texas river cooter (Pseudemys texana), morphological and genetic comparisons of two species of cricket frogs (Acris sp.), Houston toad (Bufo houstonensis) and Cagle’s map turtle (Graptemys caglei) surveys, and numerous other research projects focusing on animal husbandry and genetics.

After graduating, she has continued to work in the field of genetics throughout her professional career, co-authoring several peer reviewed publications on the development and use of new genetic techniques for species delimitation.  She also spearheaded the development and implementation of new survey and monitoring techniques using canines in order to improve detection probabilities for multiple rare and endangered plant and animal species, as well as the use of canines for monitoring project impacts to wildlife.

Jenny volunteers and serves our breed in many different roles at the national and local levels.  She has been a member of the GSPCA and GSPCSA since 2022, a member of NAVHDA and the Lonestar NAVHDA chapter since 2020, and the Alamo NAVHDA chapter since 2023. She has also served as an officer, director, and committee member for various other organizations.  She has served on committees for hunt tests, field trials, snake avoidance, various education/training events, as well as website development. Jenny has also served as the GSPCSA’s club delegate representative at the GSPCA Annual Meeting for the past two years.

For the GSPCA, Jenny serves on the Health & Welfare, Juniors, Top 25, and Versatility committees.  Her passion and expertise in expanding research initiatives to support the GSPCA Health & Welfare programs led her to become a founding member and director of The GSP Foundation.  She hopes to bring her experience in genetic research, study design, and animal diseases to use in  identifying opportunities to work directly with universities and researchers on projects focused on identifying both the causes of and treatments for the numerous health issues that affect our breed.  She happily volunteers her time, knowledge, skills, and resources to help organizations and initiatives she is passionate about, and encourages and promotes participation in events.

“I love this breed and my family and I are blessed to share our home and business with 3 GSPs.  Doing things with our GSPs is a family affair!  We compete at the local, regional, and national levels in conformation, hunt, field, obedience, rally, scent work, tracking, coursing, and dock diving, just to name a few, in addition to the unique and important work our dogs do for science as part of our company.  If it’s something we can do with our dogs, count us in!🐾”
